Become a Stemnet Science Ambassador
Interconnect is teaming up with STEMNET (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths Network) to encourage women studying these subjects to become STEM Ambassdors. Being an Ambassador gives you the chance to promote STEM subjects in schools, while developing your CV at the same time. There are over 18,000 Ambassadors in the UK (students and professionals), so you are joining a great team.
What do Ambassadors Do?
Ambassadors work with teachers in schools to get children and young people enthusiastic about STEM subjects. What this entails is really up to you, but it could be
- Helping with school competitions, events and awards
- Helping the teacher deliver activities such as science clubs
- Talking about your experiences and why you love your subject
- Acting as a role model to younger students
Not only are you making a difference in your community, but there is a lot in it for you too:
- A sense of achievement
- Stronger communication, planning & presentation skills
- An enhanced CV
- Fun!
Training is provided before you volunteer for the first time and this gives you the opportunity to get all your questions answered.
After an initial training you will be asked to commit to participating in two activities each year – of course you can do more if you want!
